Abstract:
The gene AtSPL3 plays an important role in regulating the flowering process of Arabidopsis thaliana. In this study, we analyzed the gene expression differences in the root, nodule, cotyledon, flower, stem, shoot apex and seed of soybean with digital expression profile, qRT-PCR showed that the expression of GmSPL3a in flower and shoot apex was higher, GmSPL3 (b, c) was highly expressed in leaves, and GmSPL3d was mainly expressed in trifoliolate leaf and shoot apex. It was suggested that the GmSPL3 genes may be involved in the growth and development of soybean. Then, we generated GmSPL3 mutant in Williams 82 (W82) background by gene editing, and investigated the phenotype cause by GmSPL3 loss-of-function. In GmSPL3 knockout mutants, it was found that spl3abcd mutants showed the fewer nodes, shorter internode length and lower plant height under SD, indicating that GmSPL3 played an important role in regulating the plants morphology of soybean.
