Abstract:
To determine the best sowing time of intercropped soybean in northeastern region of Sichuan Province, two high-protein soybean cultivars (Nandou 12 and Nanxiadou 25) with better adaptation to intercropping were planted at six dates (June 5th, June 15th, June 25th, July 5th, July 15th, and July 25th) in maize-soybean intercropping system.Growth stages, agronomic traits, yield, and seed quality were investigated in this experiment.The results showed that the vegetative, reproductive and whole growth stages became shorter, but the ratio of reproductive stage and vegetative stage increased under the delay of sowing times.Delayed planting date had higher degree of effects on component of growth stage on Nandou 12 than Nanxiadou 25.Plant height, stem diameter, branch number, nodes number on mainstem, seed filling rate and harvest indexes decreased, while non-filled rate increased under delayed sowing times. Two tested soybean cultivars had the highest yield and protein content at the plating date of June 15th. At this plant date, the yields of Nandou 12 and Nanxiadou 25 were 2 172.6 and 2 539.7 kg.ha-1, respectively, and the protein content of Nandou 12 and Nanxiadou 25 were 49.1% and 47.8%, respectively.Two soybean cultivars also had higher level of seed yield and protein yield at the planting date of June 25th in this experiment.In summary, the best plating dates in northeastern region of Sichuan Province is middle and late June.
