Abstract:
Plants have acquired sophisticated stress response systems to adapt to changing environments. Members of the ERF transcription factor family play important roles in response to biotic and abiotic stresses.ERF transcription factors family regulate the expression of defense genes of the adverse environmental stress by recognized GCC-box or DRE/CRT cis-element.In this review, we discuss the molecular characteristics and biological functions of ERF transcription factors in a variety of plant species. Moreover, the function of ERF transcription factors in gene interaction, pathway regulation, and defense response under stress environments is also elucidated. Finally, the research progress of ERFs in soybean tolerance to stresses is comprehensively analyzed, which could provide new opportunities for soyben tolerance engineering.
