- Abstract:
- ?The aim of this study was to investigate a heminbased combination with other substances like CaCl2,salicylic acid(SA),proline(Pro)or KNO3 that could alleviate salt damage during soybean seed germination. In the experiment, soybean seeds of Sudou 5 from Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Science, were used upon 150?mmol·L-1 NaCl.Subsequently, seed germination rate and index, the growth of radicle and hypocotyl of soybean, were measured and analyzed. The results showed that seed germination, index and the growth of radicle and hypocotyl of soybean were reduced under salt stress, while individually applied CaCl2,salicylic acid(SA),proline,KNO3 and hemin could all alleviate above salt damage.Furthermore, the mixture of hemin plus?CaCl2 or proline was more effective in alleviating salt toxicity.Meanwhile, both of them could enhance amylase and peroxidase(POD)activities.Together, these results clearly indicated that combinations of hemin and CaCl2 or proline exerted an advantageous effect on enhancing salt tolerance during soybean seed germination, for which 120 μmol·L-1 hemin together with 1.5 mmol·L-1mol CaCl2 and 80 μmol·L-1 hemin plus 10 mmol·L-1 proline were the best combinations.
