Abstract:
The history of soybean industry and current status of soybean production and research in Argentina was summarized, including the distribution of producing area, varietal types, breeding methods, variety experimental procedure, cultivation practices, pest management, agricultural extension services, etc. The reasons for the rapid development of soybean production in Argentina in the past decade were also analyzed. It was proposed that China could adopt the experience from Argentina to develop its own soybean industry by using the following advanced and practical techniques such as rotation, no tillage or direct seeding, deep chisel tillage, Rhizobium inoculation, and the breeding and utilization of transgenic soybean.
