Abstract:
The adaptability of 10 soybean variet ies in Shenyang region of Liaoning province was studied usingprincipal component analy sis and cluster analysis .The results showed that the main biological characters of soybeanvarieties could be divided into plant individual factors, plant shape factors and facto rs related to plant diseasesand insect pest s throug h principal component analysis .The dif ferences of soybean yields among each g roupw ere significant as clustered into 3 groups .Varieties w ith high yield had comparatively more ef fective branches,number of pods and number of seeds per plant , heavier of seed weig ht per plant and lo nger of grow th periods,w hile their plant height s w ere shorter and nodes in main stems were less .Principal component analy sis and clusteranalysis were proven to be ef fective statistical methods in selecting soybean varieties in a specifically region .
