Abstract:
Fif ty one accessions of soybean (Glycine max (L .)Merr .)from Huang huaihai and Middle -lowerChangjiang Valleys w ere tested for thei r tolerance to aluminum toxin by using the mean membership index valueaveraged over those of plant height , leave number , dry root w eight and dry stem and leaf weig ht .Seven mosttolerant accessions (Rank 1)and three most sensitive ones (Rank 5)were identified .The co rrelations betweenthe mean membership index and the st ressed to unstressed relative values of number of lateral root s , tap rootleng th , to tal roo t leng th , roo t volume and dry root weight were all sig nificant at 0 .01 level , which could be usedas indicato rs of aluminum st ress tolerance .The RIL population derived from Bogao ×NG94 -156 was used toanaly ze the inheritance of the five relative root trait s by using the seg regatio n analysis of quantitative t rait underthe major gene plus polygene mixed inheritance model .The result s showed that between the tw o parent s (Rank4 ×Rank 2)the relative value of lateral root number , tap roo t leng th , to tal root length and dry root w eight w erecont rolled by three major genes plus polygenes w ith thei r major gene heritability values 80 .22 %~ 91 .81 % andpolygene heritability values 3 .52 %~ 11 .39 %, w hile the relative value of roo t volume w as controlled by threemajor genes with their majo r gene heritability value 93 .44 %, indicating that major gene accounted for a majorpart of the genet ic variation between the two parent s in the five root t raits related to aluminum toxin tolerance .
