Abstract:
Field experiment s were carried out to investigate the adaptability of 8 soybean varieties f rom dif ferento rigins to low -P acid red soils in South China and the mechanism of P efficiency .The results show ed that therew ere significant varietal differences in plant biomass , yield , P eff iciency and P acquisi tio n ef ficiency among the 8tested soy bean variet ies .Based on P acquisit ion efficiency (def ined as P content), variety BX10 w as higy eff icientbut nonresponsive ,BD2 , GD1 and GD3 were ineff icient but responsive , w hile the performances of o therv arieties, BX11 , BD1 , GD2 and GD4 , were unstable .Furthermo re , the overall P ef ficiency (defined asbiomass)of the tested soybean varieties show ed the same pat tern as P acquisition eff iciency .On the o ther hand ,there was no significant varietal difference in P utilization eff iciency .This indicates that the overall P eff iciencyis mainly att ributed to P acquisition efficiency in the present field study .Meanw hile , since the P -efficient v arietiesdid not have longer root leng th and larger root surface area , P acquisition efficiency of the 8 tested soybeanv arieties may be dominated by other roo t t raits , such as root architecture and root exudates under the present experimentalcondit ions .
