Abstract:
The symptomatology and serology of 135 specimens of soybean virus collected from Middle and LowerHuang -Huai and Chang jiang Valleys w ere studied .The reactions to SMV antiserum of the 81 out of 135 specimenswere posi tive .The conclusions w ere obtained as follows :(1)The soybean mosaic vi rus in this area could beclassified into eight st rain groups designated as SC -1 , SC -2 , SC -3 , SC -4 , SC -5 , SC -6 , SC -7 and SC -8 ,respectively .(2)The soybean cultivars, such as Nannong 133 -3 , Qihuang No .10 , 8101 , Tiefeng No .25 ,Davis, Zaoshu 18 , Buf falo , Kw anggyo , and Qiuang No .1 were chosen as the differential host s to identify theSMV st rain g roups in the Middle and Lower Huang -Huai and Changjiang Valley s.(3)The dist ribution of thelow virulence st rain groups SC -1 and SC -3 were w ide in and the Middle and Low er Huang -Huai andChangjiang Valleys , while the high virulence st rain g roup SC -8 w as only found in Nanjing , Jiangsu province .
