Abstract:
Soy bean seedling s w ere i rradiated wi th 30 and 50 Gy 60Co γ- ra ys. Theg row th and seed yield of M1 soy bean w ere inhibited a nd mo rphological v ariatio n w ithtw o or more g rowing point s w as induced. M2 generation had seedlings wi th o ne o r threeprimary leav es, and joined o r w rinkled co ty ledons. Under the same dosag e, low dosag era te had bet ter mutagenic ef fect than that of high dosag e rate. Irradiatio n of so ybeanplants could induce earlymaturity and higher pro tein content in seeds. A mutant , 96-3191, w as screemed o ut f rom M8 genera tion. Its maturi ty i s two w eeks ea rlier andpro tein co ntent is up to 49. 81% , 2. 96 percentage higher than tho se o f PI423· 948A.
