Abstract:: Tw enty soybean cultivars /breeding lines originated in Northeast China w ere introducedto Hefei, Anhui f rom 1992 to 1995 and planted in spring to study the v ariation rules of vegetablesoybean characters such as g row th period, morphological t rai ts and yield. Researchresults revealed the following aspects. 1. The difference between the latitude of originationintroduced and Hefei, Anhui province w as negatively and sig nificant ly co rrelated to theirg row th period af ter int roduction; the correlation coef ficience w as - 0. 802. Besides, the correlationbetw een the g row th period of these soybeans in their o riginated place and Hefei ,Anhui province w as qui te high. 2. Soybean seed yield in it ’s original place was not related toit ’s g reen pod yield w hen introduced to Hefei, but seed size correlated closely between places( r= 0. 4364) . 3. As g row th period is an impo rtant factor to meet the needs of these soybeansfo r veg etable purpose, seed size, pubescence colo r, pod width and seeds /pod shouldalso be taken for detail consideration. Based on these cri teria, 4 soybeans w ere identified aspromising v eg etable soybean varieties.
