Abstract:

In order to investigate the influence of source-sink alteration on soybean quality and yield formation during reproductive development,leaves defoliation and pod removal were made at R1 and R5 with two soybean cultivars differing in fatty acid and protein content.The results showed that 1/3 leaves removal at R1 or R5 stage had no influence on seed quality and seed yield; all leaves removal at R1 stage decreased pod number and seed yield per plant,but had no effect on seed quality.However,all leaves removal at R5 stage decreased seed perpod and seed size,but favoured protein accumulation but was unfarourable to fatty acid accumulation.1/3 pod removal at R5 stage increased seed number per pod and seed size,and slightly promoted seed yield per plant,and could increase fatty acid content as well, indicating that the accumulation mechanisms of protein and fatty acid are different ,and it is plausible to regulate yield and quality in soybean physilolgically.
