Abstract:

Vi rulence o f SMV i sola tes w as tested by cross - inocula tion of representativ est rains o n differentials f rom no rtheast part o f China, So uth Ko rea, Japan and Far EastRussia. Chinese st rains could not be classified by fo reig n dif ferentials. All 9 st rains including13 isolates tested severely in fected Buf falo from South Ko rea a nd Haroso y f romJapan w hich w ere the mo st resistant dif ferential cul tiv ars respectiv ely. Only part of fo reigndif ferentials co uld sepa ra te vi rulence of Chinese st rains, such as Kw ang gy o f romSouth Ko rea a nd Tachiyutaka f rom Japa n could separate S1 and S2 from S3, Davi s f romSouth Korea and Tomo yutake f rom Ja pan could sepa ra te S1 f rom other st rains. G7, thehighest vi rulent strain of South Korea, a nd SMV - B, intermedia te vi rulent st rain ofJapan, w ere classi fied only a s S1, the low est vi rulent st rain o f China. St rain could notand need no t be classi fied by fo reig n dif ferentials wi thout a ny rela tionship to domesticcultiva rs. Using cur rent domestic cultiva rs a s di fferentials i s more reasonable and v aluablefo r soy bean breeding.
