Abstract:
Tw elv e representative soy bean va rieties collected f rom main ecolo gical regio ns inChina w ere sow n in spring in Nanjing ( 32°N) and di fferent pho to period t rea tment s werecarried o ut to compare pre- and post- flowering photoperiod respo nse o f the va rio us ecotypes.The resul ts indicated that f low ering of all v arieties wa s sig nificantly hastenedby SD ( 12h) , a nd matura tion wa s hig hly hastened ( P < 0. 01) , too , in 10 of 12 v arieties,ex cept 2 early o nes o f Dongnong 36 and Taixing heido u. Under the co ndition ofthi s ex periment, post- f low ering pho toperio d respo nse w as mo re sensi tiv e tha n preflow ering respo nse in summer- sow n soybean v arieties, other eco ty pes respo nded moresensi titv ely or nearly befo re f low ering tha n af ter f low ering. Cor relation a nalysi s show edthat the sensitivi ty o f pho to period response befo re and a fter f low ering was posi tiv elycor related to the leng th of co rrespo nding dev elo pmental stag es in natural dayleng th.Veg etativ e period leng th w as po si tiv ely related to the seed number and seed yield perplant , and lo ng er reproductive period was beneficial to the increase of 100 - seedw eight. The relationship betw een the sensi tiv ity of pre- /po st- f low ering pho to periodrespo nse and day leng th a nd o ther envi ro nmental facto rs in o riginal sites was discussed.
