Abstract:
The chemical composi tions of soy bean seeds co llected from v arious si tes of the regional v ariety test s ( 1985- 1990) in Yellow Riv er, Huaihe Riv er a nd Haihe Riv er V alleysw ere a naly zed in this study. Among the va rieties tested, 9 o f them w ere found to behigh in pro tein ( 44. 05- 46. 64% ) , 1 w as high in oi l ( 22. 58% ) , 14 w ere double-hig h( pro tein and oil co ntents, the total amount of pro tein and oi l was betw een 63. 08- 65.39% ) , 1 w as high-protein and big-sized ( 46. 26% a nd 25. 97g per 100 seeds) , 10 w erehigh-pro tein- yielding ( pro tein content w as 42- 46% , pro tein yield w as 1050- 1200kg /hm2 , a nd seed yield w as 2350- 2700 kg /hm2 ) . The relationships among the co ntentso f pro tein, oil, to tal amount o f pro tein a nd oi l, and pro tein yield w ere ana lyzed. Weproposed that i t was possible to breed v arieties wi th bo th high protein a nd high oil contents,and the o nes wi th high pro tein co ntent and high yield. The standards for evaluationof protein, oil , to tal amount of protein and protein yield were sugg ested. Ef fects ofenvi ronment on seed compo si tio n w ere studied and the resul ts show ed that protein contentw as higher wh ere the la ti tude w as low er. It was co ncluded tha t the ecotypes andenvi ronmental conditions sho uld be considered when breeding high protein yielding v arieties.
