Abstract:
The F2 , F3 a nd F4 lines of six soy bean crosses w ere selected, wi th the o bjectiv e ofhigh yield and by use o f the method of pedigree and under high-or low -fertili tysite for three successiv e yea rs. Tw o best lines w ere selected f rom each cro ss in each fer ti li ty si tein 1994. In 1995, the lines w ere tested under hig h- , medium and low-fertili ty wi th thesame ex perimental design ( CRB) to study the selectio n effect s o f dif ferent fertility si tes.The result s sug gested that high and low fertility had dif ferent selectio n ef fect s. Hig hfertili ty w as more ef fectiv e for selecting lines w hich had hig her yield in high ferti li ty andlow er yield in low ferti li ty. Low fer tility w as bet ter for selecting lines, w hich had hig heryield in low fertili ty. The high fertility w as somew hat bet ter tha n low fertili ty fo r selectinglines which had hig her yield in bo th hig h and low fer ti li ty. It rev ealed that thelines selected f rom high fertility had superior yield po tential. Lodging-resista nce of thelines selected f rom hig h fertili ty w as higher than tha t of lines f rom low ferti li ty.
