A microanalytical metho d o f tofu yield w as dev elo ped fo r the requi rement s of w hichthe analy si s should be in a micro- specimen o r individual plant , ev en individual seed basis, such as fo r the si tuatio n o f studying the inheri tance of tofu yield f rom g eneratio n tog eneratio n. Tofu was prepared f rom o ne, two , fo ur, six , eig ht and ten dried seeds, respectively, w ith sta nda rd method( using 50g dried seeds) as check. The major point ofinnov atio n of the analytical method w as to use cent rifuging to replace fi ltering a nd compressingof the coag ula ted material in so ymilk. No sig nificant va ria tion w as found in tofuyield amo ng dif ferent specimen si zes and betw een microanalytical method and standard metho d. The standard er ro r decreased wi th increase o f number of replica tio ns.These result s implied tha t the microanaly tical method could be used to substi tute fo r thesta nda rd method. But the sample si zc fo r sing le seed specimen should be double of theo thers since the sampling error of i t is larger sig nificantly tha n those of the others.
